What You Should Know About Phlebotomy

What does a phlebotomist do?
Phlebotomists draw blood and make sure that the correct amounts are taken and labeled correctly before being sent to the lab, hospital, or other facilities for tests, transfusions, blood donations, and research. They work in medical and diagnostic labs, hospitals, blood donor centers, doctors’ offices, etc.

Phlebotomy may also be a part of the treatment for blood disorders such as polycythemia vera, which is a condition that causes an elevated red blood cell volume. It is also needed for the treatment of patients with hemochromatosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and pulmonary edema.

What are the attributes of a good phlebotomist?
Other than hard skills like drawing blood, phlebotomists must also have soft skills. You can be a good phlebotomist if you have good communication and observation skills as well as the ability to work well under pressure. Also, you must be a responsible and compassionate team player. You can promote these skills as you undergo CNA Training in Michigan.
